Iranian feature ‘A Hero’ is set to open this year’s edition of Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar.

‘A Hero’ by internationally acclaimed director Asghar Farhadi will be screened at the 9th edition of the event.

Farhadi's feature is about Rahim, a divorced man who has been imprisoned due to unpaid debt. During a two-day leave, Rahim tries to prove that he is a good person.

The movie is starring Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

‘A Hero’ was awarded the Grand Prix at the 74th Cannes Film Festival in France. The prize was also shared by Juho Kuosmanen’s ‘Compartment No.6’.

‘A Hero’ is also selected as Iran’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Farhadi’s films ‘A Separation’ (2011) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016) won two Oscars for best foreign-language film.

The ninth edition of Ajyal Film Festival, which is presented by the Doha Film Institute (DFI), will be held on November 7-13.
